Dec 10th and 11th

We did not do much on the ninth we kind of had a chill day at home. We went to the pool and cooked pesto pasta and watched a Christmas movie.

December 11th

We ventured to a new island! We took a boat and went to Lanai. We  hung out for the day at the beach.  The water was crystal clear blue and they had really pretty tide  pools. The waves were pretty big, so we did not go in very deep, but for some reason the water felt warmer on Lana’i. They have some pretty trails and walked up to the sweetheart rock. It was beautiful to see the blue waters crash on the red rocks.

December 9th

Another bucket list happened today. We woke up at 2:30 AM and headed out the door at 3:00 to Haleakalā to view the sunrise. The drive is curvy, the air is thin,  the views are beautiful. At 10000 feet it was a bit of a stretch to carry Elowyn up a short hike to the top of the viewing area, but I made it. I was surprised how dizzy I felt up there. I think I most enjoyed the view before the sun came up where the sky was glowing and the stars are out. It was such a perfect melding of night and day. I learned today, that I am more of a sea level girl. I much prefer my toes in an ocean where the air is thick with humidity to being up above the clouds at 10000 feet. I am glad I did it, but I won’t be back for awhile. Poor Elowyn got car sick going up and down. She got home and napped and is now right as rain.

It’s cold up here. Snuggle time

Waihee  ridge trail was at the top of the things I wanted to do while here. I Initially planned to do it with all the girls. But the more I read about it I was concerned that I could not make it to the top with Elowyn on my back. I am glad that I made that decision. I think I would’ve had a hard time,  but I’m stubborn and probably would have made it. Coming back down it was very slippery, so that would not have been super safe.  Juniper was given the option and she decided to stay home with Nana. It was a perfect day for a hike and I’m so glad we did it. Now I want more hikes.

This girl is amazing

These Cook Pines are so pretty

I spy 2 waterfalls

We made it to the top, 2563 elevation. 4 miles and walked 1550
elevation gain. Proud of this girl for doing hard things.

The views were incredible

December 7th

Big luau day. We had so much fun at the Luau. The dancers were great and I thought the food was good. They had cucumber salad that hit the spot and I made the girls try poi. They decided they did not like it, but at least they tried it. They danced and ate a million desserts. They liked the fire dancers and the hula girls.  Before the luau, mom and I grabbed lunch and did a little shopping. We had a great time together. Could not do this trip without her. Thanks Mom!

Lunch, this girl can eat ramen noodles

December 6th

We had a quiet day today. We went to the library to pick out some new books and they had story time and craft. It was really well done and the kids enjoyed it. Kai has already finished one chapter book while in Hawaii. We were all starving when we left the library and went and had some lunch. I had fish tacos with mango salsa. So yummy, when we were done eating we went to a whale sanctuary and hung out for a little while before we headed back home. That evening we went fishing. Wyatt caught one fish and he was really cute, then we through him back.
