spinach

Kai is suposed to take an iron supplement, but she is not a fan.  I have been trying to find other ways to get iron in her and my good Mommy friends told me to puree spinach, so I did. I  put it in eggs and quesadillas. I call it the "hide the spinach mission" and it worked. Kai gobbled up the eggs and the quesadilla. One point for Mom.

Sorry, no spinach is this photo.  Organic turkey and mango.

My Valentine

Daddy's Valentine

I am sure I am biased, but I think Kai has the best Dad in the world. Wyatt stayed up late a few nights to make Kai her valentine. Kai thought it was perfect and loved it to pieces.

Wedding Vows

For our Anniversary last year Wyatt got me our wedding vows that were hand embroidered onto a piece of cloth. I just got around to framing the vows and since its our 3rd anniversary today, I think it is important to reflect on the words that I spoke with such sentiment the day I said I DO.  I love you Wyatt, my constant friend, my  partner and my love. I will give you my love freely and unconditional.  I pledge this to you from the bottom of my heart  for all the days of our lives. Happy Anniversary, my love.

Things you may hear

There are a few phrase uttered around our home that may seem a little odd if overheard by others.

1. "oooh, no,  the teapot." If you heard this sound you would know why we call it the teapot.

2. "Honey, its time for jamy jams." Its time to get  Kai in her pajamas and sleep sack. Its bedtime.
Kai with her Dolly. This is a must have for her to get to sleep.

3. " The baby is fuss jumping" This is when the baby is fussing
while in her jumper but had not stopped jumping yet. Time to get her out.

This is an old shot and there is no longer "fuss jumping"
She thinks she is too big for the jumper.

Glitter bottle

Found this on Pinterst today and I ran out and bought the ingredients with Kai. She napped I made a glitter bottle. I removed the sticky label with finger nail polish remover. Then added super hot water, glitter, glitter glue and clear tacky glue. Then shake, shake, shake.  I mixed mine in the bottle and it worked fine. Some sites recommend a bowl, but I though that sounded messy. The more glue the slower the glitter settles, so I just messed around with mixture.  I also glued the lid. They are even neater in person.

Site where I found idea.

Hot water
clear tacky glue, 1 or 2  table spoons
fine glitter
1/2 bottel glitter glue or more. I used sliver and blue

First art

I have been perusing Pinterst for art and craft ideas for one year olds and I found this one.  Its paint contained inside of a ziplock and then taped to the surface. Kai's highchair has 2 trays. This is great because I taped the art on the bottom tray and let her play while I cooked her supper then set her food tray right on top of the art.

Tip. Add more paint to the ziplock than you think you should, so it mushes and pushes with little fingers.

Mom. What is this? I want food.
OK, I will fake a smile for the photo, then food.

Thats better, food I can pick up.

Kai's swimming lessons

Yesterday Kai had her first swimming lesson and she loved it, but this is what I learned.

1. Bring a plastic bag for wet suits

2. It's really really hard to shower yourself and a wet baby in a tiny gym shower

3. It super hard to dry and dress the baby on a hard bench with concrete below while I am still dripping wet.

4. Its incredible awkward trying to undress and redress yourself while everyone is looking at your baby and you are trying to keep her still and safe on the hard bench.

5. If you wore your suit to the pool pack undies.

6. Flop flops would be good for indoors areas.

7. This may be a better summer time activity.

8. I'm not sure if poor Kai will ever get to go again. I may have been traumatized by the dressing while people are talking and looking at my baby.

Kai's First Super Bowl

Super Bowl Party

I was very excited to have a super bowl party at our house on Sunday. My Mom and I were in the kitchen all morning baking goodies. We had various foods in football shapes, including deviled  eggs, woopie pies, and peanut butter dip. All ideas and recipes were gathered from pinterest. My husband wanted chocolate covered bacon, and since I'm the best wife, I made some. We also had BBQ pork, coleslaw and bean dip. The party was complete with BINGO and a few other games, a great time had by all. Thank you everyone for coming.

9 Month check up

Kai had her 9 month check up yesterday. We have a new doctor since the move and Kai cried the whole time we were in the room. She has stranger anxiety and it's in full force right now.  Kai weighed 18.2lb (26 percent)  and was 28 inches long (59 percent), which is half an inch shorter than last month. Operator error I assume. The dr told Kai she needed to start brushing her teeth, so Mom and Dad went to the store and bought her a toothbrush. Happy brushing.

Urban Mining

I met a few friends through a Moms meet up site and we had a Moms night out. We went antique shopping and out to eat. I had so much fun looking at the the pretty stuff. I bought just what my car could hold. I may need to take a bigger car next time.

I plan to refinish this in green or white

Rocking horse one

Rocking horse two

This bunny was too cute to pass up. I brought her
home and gave her a bath before Kai could give her a snuggle.
